Creative Works on European Integration Comes to Sofia

We are pleased to announce the upcoming Creative Works on European Integration exhibition in Sofia, Bulgaria, organised as part of the EU Journeys project. The exhibition invites visitors to explore how European integration has shaped everyday lives, identities, opportunities, and shared memory across generations.

The event will take place on 20 February 2026 at Toplocentrala Center for Contemporary Arts (CCA), Sofia. Through visual works, historical references, and contemporary reflections, the exhibition opens a space for civic dialogue on what Europe means in personal and collective terms.

What the exhibition is about

Part of the broader project EU Journeys: Uniting Stories of European Integration, the exhibition brings together creative interpretations of Europe’s past, present, and future. It highlights stories of integration, remembrance, citizenship, solidarity, and democratic participation, while encouraging audiences to reflect on the milestones, rights, and opportunities that have transformed life across the continent.

The curated selection includes works inspired by:

  • the historical roots and ideals behind European unity;
  • personal stories and testimonies connected to European integration;
  • utopian and cautionary visions of Europe’s future;
  • key European ideas and figures, including Jean Monnet and the evolving meaning of cooperation.

Why this event matters

The exhibition is designed as more than a display of artworks. It is a meeting point for memory, dialogue, and participation. By bringing creative works into conversation with lived experience, the event encourages visitors to think about how European integration has influenced education, mobility, citizenship, cooperation, and belonging.
